God Pack Odds in Pokemon TCG Pocket: What Are Your Chances?

God packs are the ultimate jackpot in TCG Pocket. Here are the real odds, what you get, and whether chasing them makes sense.

What is a god pack?

A god pack is a special pack opening where all five cards are rare or higher rarity. In a normal pack, you typically get three to four commons/uncommons and one rare-slot card. A god pack replaces every slot with something good — rares, EX cards, full arts, immersive cards, and potentially even crown rares.

God packs are not a separate product. They occur randomly when you open any standard pack. There is no way to predict or force one — it is pure luck.

What are the actual odds?

Based on community data from millions of tracked pack openings, god packs occur at a rate of approximately 0.04%, or roughly 1 in 2,500 packs.

To put that in perspective: if you open your two daily free packs every day, you would need about 3.4 years of daily play to have a roughly 63% chance of seeing one god pack. The odds are far worse than pulling a single crown rare (roughly 1 in 1,500). See Pull Rates Explained for how probability works with these numbers.

Some players report hitting multiple god packs while others play for over a year without seeing one. This is exactly what random probability looks like — it is not rigged, it is just rare.

Which packs can have god packs?

Every pack type in every set can produce a god pack. The odds appear to be the same regardless of which pack or set you open.

Genetic Apex (A1)

All three pack types — Charizard, Mewtwo, and Pikachu — can produce god packs. A Genetic Apex god pack can contain Charizard EX, Mewtwo EX, Pikachu EX, and other crown rares from the A1 pool. See the Genetic Apex guide for the full card list.

Mythical Island (A1a)

The single Mythical Island pack can produce god packs with Mew EX and other A1a rares. See the Mythical Island guide.

Space-Time Smackdown (A2)

Both Dialga and Palkia packs can produce god packs featuring Dialga EX, Palkia EX, and other A2 crown rares. See the Space-Time Smackdown guide.

What is inside a god pack?

The exact contents of a god pack are random within the rare-and-above pool, but community data shows a typical distribution:

  • All five cards are guaranteed rare or higher — no commons or uncommons.
  • Most god packs contain three to four rare cards and one to two EX cards.
  • Full art and immersive art cards are possible but not guaranteed in every god pack.
  • Crown rares can appear but are the rarest outcome even within a god pack.
  • The expected trade value of a god pack's contents varies widely — from modest (five basic rares) to extraordinary (if a crown rare appears).

Is it worth chasing god packs?

No. The odds are too low to make god pack chasing a viable strategy. If you open packs purely hoping for a god pack, you will almost certainly be disappointed.

The correct mindset is to open packs for the normal cards you need and treat a god pack as a pleasant surprise if it happens. Your pack resources are much better spent targeting specific cards through focused opening and trading.

For efficient card acquisition, see our guide on how to get rare cards. Trading is always more reliable than hoping for a god pack.

What to do if you hit a god pack

Congratulations — you have beaten 1-in-2,500 odds. Here is what to do next:

First, check what you got. Use our Value Checker to assess the trade value of each card. If you pulled a crown rare, that single card may be worth more than the rest of the god pack combined.

Second, decide what to keep and what to trade. Keep cards you need for your collection or decks. Trade duplicates and cards outside your archetype — god pack pulls carry the same trade value as any other copy of the card, but the excitement of a god pack pull can make others more willing to trade favourably.

Third, update your Collection Checklist and celebrate. God packs are rare enough that pulling one is genuinely special.
