How to Negotiate Fair Trades in Pokemon TCG Pocket

Trading in TCG Pocket is a negotiation as much as a transaction. Here's how to approach it so both sides walk away satisfied.

Start With a Real Value Comparison

Before proposing or accepting any trade, check both cards against our Value Checker and the trade values tier list. A trade that looks even on rarity alone can be lopsided once pull difficulty and demand are factored in.

Common Negotiation Tactics to Recognize

The bundle offer. Someone offers two or three lower-value cards to make up for one high-value card. Add up the actual trade value of everything offered before deciding if it's a fair exchange, not just the card count.

The urgency push. "I need to trade right now" pressure tactics are common and rarely reflect genuine urgency on the other side. Take the time you need to check values.

The favor ask. A request framed as "just this once, as a favor" for an uneven trade. Reasonable between established trading partners, worth declining from strangers.

How to Propose a Trade That Gets Accepted

Lead with what you're offering and what you want clearly, referencing actual trade value rather than just asking for whatever you want. A specific, value-aware offer gets accepted far more often than a vague "what do you have" message.

Building Long-Term Trade Relationships

The best trades over time come from repeat partners who trust each other's fairness, not one-off strangers. Being consistently fair on smaller trades builds the reputation that gets you first access when a partner pulls something valuable.

When to Walk Away

If a proposed trade doesn't check out against real value data and the other side won't adjust, it's fine to decline. There's always another trade opportunity, and a single bad trade can cost more than the patience of waiting for a fair one.
